This is a modern day twist on Little Red Riding Hood, featuring werewolves. I’m not embarrassed to be caught reading a book for eighth graders when it’s as fun as this!

“As a child, Gretchen’s twin sister was taken by a witch in the woods. Ever since, Gretchen and her brother, Ansel, have felt the long branches of the witch’s forest threatening to make them disappear, too.”
This not-too-spooky modern retelling of Hansel and Gretel features a chocolate festival, a candy maker in South Carolina, and a dark forest where a monster lurks. An easy, fluffy, enjoyable read for a rainy evening.
